Vacation for Ukrainian children in Transcarpathia
Information
The project of the Tisza European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Tisza EGTC) “Providing recreation for Ukrainian children in Transcarpathia” has been completed. The project was implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. In the framework of the project, 38 children from Kharkiv County and 4 accompanying adults had the opportunity to relax and unwind in Transcarpathia, in the Helikon Hotel in Berehove district, from 17 to 23 August. The children who arrived here are experiencing the horrors of the relentless war on a daily basis. The week-long holiday included a diverse programme of cultural events and historical tours. The children went on excursions every day, visiting historical sites of Transcarpathia, castles and museums, relaxing in thermal pools and aqua parks. In addition to the these, there were many opportunities for active recreation, horse riding, archery, playing in the fresh air, developing creative skills, and crafts. The Tisza EGTC would like to express its sincere thanks to the active contributors of the varied programme, who did their most to ensure the children’s carefree rest: Tibor Bíró, the director of the Helikon Hotel, and local organiser Klára Szibert, who ensured the children’s rest from early morning until late at night. We would also like to thank Oleksiy Ivanchenko, the director of the Thermal Spa in Koszony for the pleasant rest and recreation, Mykhailo Belekanych, the director of the “Palanok” castle in Mukachevo, Attila Vigyikán, the director of the “DinoPark” for the support and the interesting excursions. Their task was to provide a relaxed environment for the children to be children again, to experience these few days as a carefree and recharging experience. They believe that this holiday in Transcarpathia will provide an unforgettable experience for their everyday life and for the future. They hope that this one week will be a source of positive thinking, hope and faith in themselves and in the future for all the children involved.
