This is the 8th time in the last two years, and the second time this year, that a group of children has taken a break with us. Last year and this August, children from the Kharkov region also came to rest with us. We have chosen this region on purpose because Kharkiv region is currently going through a very difficult time due to the fierce fighting in the region. The sad result of a terrible war: 2767 people died in Kharkiv province during the war. Of these, 95 were children. Since the beginning of the war, more than 400 children have lost a direct relative and 38 children have been orphaned.
The children aged 9-14 can stay for seven days at the Helikon Hotel in the village of Janosi, Berehovo district, where they are provided with accommodation and three meals a day. Each day they will enjoy a different programme, including a visit to Mukachevo Castle and the Csoma Conquest Memorial Park in the Berehovo district, where children will enjoy folk games, horse riding and archery lessons. And, of course, recreational relaxation in the Koszony thermal baths. The cultural programme includes creative activities, crafts, pizza baking and a dance workshop with the Tulipán Hungarian Folk Art School.
Our mission is to restore the children’s sense of security and well-being. We would like to believe that this relaxation will also be a source of positivity, hope and faith in themselves and in the future.
