The SVINKA European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability was registered on 01.11.2013 with the participation of the municipalities of Háromhuta and Tolcsva in Hungary and Obišovce in Slovakia. The EGTC covers 64,2 km2, in the areas of Zempléni-hegység/Zemplínske vrchy, Hernád/Hornád and Torysa rivers. The population of the Grouping is 2 341 people and it is based in Tolcsva, Hungary.

The objectives of the EGTC are the following:

  • alongside the elaboration of a common development programme the objective of the Grouping is to enable, promote and strengthen the economic and social cohesion through implementation of territorial cooperation programmes and co-financed by the European Union, exploiting the advantages of the EGTC’s status as a legal entity, within the administrative confines of the members, with impact to further territories affected by the activity of the grouping 
  • organization of the cultural and economic life of the region in accordance with the needs of the population, taking into account folk traditions, cultural values ​​and their promotion to all ages of the society;
  • establish cooperation with regional, county and international NGOs;
  • preservation of natural and architectural heritage.
