How can we strengthen the resilience of our cities? – Results of the CEURES project
Information
The sustainability and resilience of cities in the V4 countries is one of the most important challenges of our time, especially in the face of rapidly changing economic, social and environmental conditions. The CEURES project aims to make a comprehensive contribution to the development of municipalities in the region by collecting best practices and sharing the knowledge gained among urban planners, municipalities and practitioners.
The project has been implemented in close cooperation with the participating organisations, including the University of Hradec Králové (CZ), the Stanislaw Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PL), the Forum Regional Development Centre (SK), PONTIBUS EGTC (SK-HU) and the University of Szeged.
The CEURES project has produced a number of important results, including the collection and free availability of best practices, the development of multilingual e-learning materials providing practical knowledge, and the publication of the Central European Municipal Resilience Handbook. The aim of the project is to make the knowledge gained available to all and to support Central European cities in the long term to increase their resilience.
The CEURES project has brought together recent but scattered knowledge and best practices on municipal resilience in the V4 countries. To achieve the greatest impact, the project has implemented the following:
- Identifying best practices in each of the V4 countries
- Professional workshops
- A freely accessible selection of best practices
- Free multilingual, modular e-learning curriculum providing practical knowledge
- Pilot training
- Central European Municipal Resilience Manual, freely available
The aim of the project is to help colleagues who want to work on how our municipalities can be more resilient and adaptable in these turbulent years.
The good practices are available in the form of short e-learning videos on the Association for the Development of Human Settlements YouTube channel, with English and Hungarian subtitles, on this playlist: CEURES municipal resilience e-learning videos
The videos are also available in Czech, Polish and Slovak for those interested in urban development in the Visegrad countries:
