The Bodrog-Tisza-Latorca European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation was established on the Slovak-Hungarian border

On August 29, 2025, the Bodrog-Tisza-Latorca European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (BOTILA EGTC) was officially registered. It was established along the Slovak-Hungarian border to strengthen cross-border cooperation. CESCI also participated in the founding process. The registered headquarters of the EGTC is located in Cigánd, and its director is Dániel Ablonczy.

BOTILA EGTC’s activities are aimed at strengthening the economic, social, and territorial cohesion of the border region, with a particular focus on reinforcing local communities, coordinated infrastructure development, joint spatial planning, and energy development. Other key tasks of the EGTC include fostering and enhancing a common Bodrogköz identity, improving communication with citizens, and sharing good practices and experiences for the sustainable development of the cross-border region.

The EGTC started with four founding members, all of which are local governments: the Municipality of Cigánd and Kisrozvágy in Hungary, and the Municipality of Mesto Kráľovský Chlmec and Obec Klin nad Bodrogom in Slovakia.

The establishment of the grouping is an important step for the Bodrogköz region and the Slovak-Hungarian border region. BOTILA EGTC is committed to achieving the shared goals and is actively working to ensure that cross-border cooperation brings tangible results for the inhabitants of the region.
