The Association of Transcarpathian Border Municipalities, the Research Institute for National Strategy and the Tisza EGTC jointly organized a training series on July 14, 2025, at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium Training Center in Beregszász. The event was attended by the partners and the mayors and staff of the member municipalities of the Association of Transcarpathian Border Municipalities.

The training series primarily provides professional support for the preparation of regional development plans for small regions. The participants were welcomed by Zoltán Babják, Mayor of Beregszász and President of the Association of Transcarpathian Border Municipalities, Károly Rezes, President of the Beregszász District Council, Oszkár Seszták, President of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Assembly, President of the Tisza EGTC, and Dr. Márton Péti, Deputy President of the Research Institute for National Strategy.

Gábor Mayer, Government Commissioner (Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development), gave a presentation on current issues in regional development in Hungary and the European Union, while Oszkár Seszták, President, spoke on regional development at the county level in Hungary, using the example of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. County-level regional development in Romania, using the example of Satu Mare County, was presented by Attila Kovács, county development manager, while regional and settlement development planning tasks and the legal background in Ukraine and Transcarpathia were presented by Pavlo Lohvinov, regional director of the “U-LEAD with Europe” Regional Office, while the social, economic and territorial processes in Transcarpathia were presented by Prof. Dr. Róbert Bacsó, Head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing at the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Hungarian College of Transcarpathia.

The Planning4U project was presented in detail by Dr. Márton Péti, who co-moderated the event with József Rezes, director of the Association of Transcarpathian Border Municipalities.
