DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES IN THE ISTER-GRANUM EUROREGION WITH AN EMPHASIS ON TOURISM
Abstract
Tourism in the Ister-Granum Euroregion is truly remarkable, as it represents a significant part of the Hungarian–Slovak tourism industry. The potential of the region is not yet fully exploited, making it necessary to improve marketing activities and communication in order to create a unified regional identity.
It is important to emphasize the significance of cooperation, networked services, and the development of thematic packages. Health tourism, wellness programs, cultural tourism, rural tourism, and wine tourism can foster development and create employment opportunities for local residents. The strength and influence of the Euroregion depend on national representation. Defining and achieving common objectives economically reinforces the Euroregion.
The primary aim of the cooperation is the development of the region with the support of European funding. The border no longer hinders the integration of the regions, which is why there are numerous Euroregions in this area.
