Abstract

The dissertation aims to present a value model of cross-border cooperation in the field of tourism. The aim of the research is to examine the possibility of linking cross-border areas, international cooperation and tourism through a regional approach.

The dissertation aims to present an initiative from the Hungarian-Slovak border region, which was the first in Central Europe to form the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) during the development of the European Union’s cross-border cooperation. The dissertation primarily seeks to explore and present socio-geographical and, within that, touristic-geographical contexts, but it also takes into account broader social processes and factors in order to understand the economic processes within the organized space. One of the most basic research issues of the dissertation is the exploration of the relations and cooperation between the border areas.
