Abstract
The research presented in this volume focuses on the Hungarian-Ukrainian-Slovak triple-border area, examining cross-border relations and identity.
The volume presents a sociological analysis of the border region, covering a wide range of research areas, outlining ideas that are useful in sociologically informed studies on borders; it presents the historical, economic, ethnic and political structure of the triple border and summarizes its territorial context. Furthermore, the volume presents the most important institutional actors, some peculiarities of the labour market of the region, the characteristics of the networks connecting the actors and the identities expressed in the area of the triple border.
Border research has evolved into an interdisciplinary and independent field of science, with a growing body of research focusing on the effects of borders, such as mental maps and the impact of border proximity on regional, ethnic and EU identity.
