The partners of the Pannon Future Forest project met in Murska Sobota, Slovenia, on 16–17 June 2026 for their next in-person project meeting. The two-day professional programme focused on developing the project’s exploitation strategy, establishing a mentor network, and preparing the partnership’s joint activities for the coming months.

The Pannon Future Forest project aims to create new economic opportunities through the sustainable use of the natural assets associated with forests, grasslands, and wetlands. The partnership is developing innovative solutions and business models that combine the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services with local economic development, business support, and the promotion of green innovation.

On the first day of the meeting, the partners reviewed the outcomes of the previous capacity-building and exploitation workshops before jointly discussing the professional content to be included in the project’s exploitation strategy. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the knowledge, methodologies, and good practices developed during the project remain accessible and applicable in the long term for local businesses, professionals, and decision-makers.

As part of a study visit, the participants also visited two Slovenian examples of good practice: Hiša Gibanice and Bukovniško Lake.

On the second day, the partners discussed preparations for the national roadshow events, as well as the organisation of the hackathon planned within the framework of the project, including the participant selection process.

As Lead Partner, Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Pannon EGTC) continues to coordinate the partnership’s activities to ensure that the results of the Pannon Future Forest project deliver tangible economic and environmental benefits for the participating Central European regions.
