On 8 September, a three-day training series entitled “Regional Policy, Territorial Cooperation, and Institutional Capacity of Ukraine’s Communities in the Context of European Integration” began at Uzhhorod National University.

Over the course of three days, participants will explore topics that are particularly important for Ukrainian communities today, including cooperation with European partners, opportunities offered by EU programmes, cross-border mobility, project management, digital tools, inclusion, and strengthening the institutional capacity of local communities.

The event brings together representatives of local governments, academics, experts, and delegates from institutions in Ukraine and the Visegrád Four countries. Participants from other regions of Ukraine joined the training online, as the programme is being held in a hybrid format.

The participants were welcomed by Yaroslav Lazur, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Uzhhorod National University; Miroslava Lengyel, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs; Vasyl Demyanchuk, Deputy Chair of the Zakarpattia Regional Council; Gyula Ocskay, Secretary General of the Central European Service for Cross-border Initiatives (CESCI); and Olesya Tragnyuk, representative of the Zakarpattia Office of the HUSKROUA Programme.

During the three-day programme, participants discussed the instruments of the Interreg programmes, the principles of project cycle management, decentralisation, digital transformation, the protection of the rights of national minorities, and the inclusive development of the tourism and cultural heritage of border regions.

The event was organised within the framework of the project “Sustainable Local and Regional Governments in Ukraine and the Visegrád Four Countries through Cooperation”, with the support of the International Visegrad Fund. Representing the Tisza EGTC at the event are Judit Jevcsák, Deputy Director, and Karolina Dancs, Project Manager.
