4. Danube Conference

The 4th Danube Conference was held on 16 September 2021, in Komárom, in the Fort Monostor, organised by the Rába-Danube-Váh European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation. At the professional conference, Attila Molnár, mayor of the city of Komárom, welcomed the participants from the Slovak-Hungarian border section of the Danube. Zoltán Németh, president of the general assembly of Győr-Moson-Sopron County and of the RDV EGTC, evaluated the activities carried out by RDV EGTC. He also referred to the activities of the Small Project Fund, pointing out that the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation had supported 117 projects worth €6 million, involving 250 organisations and project partners.

Emma Vasi, director of the RDV EGTC, highlighted the role of the Rába-Danube-Váh European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation and then presented the results of the development of the border area and the cooperation. She presented the projects implemented so far and drew attention to the calls in the new programming period. 

František Koločány, department head of the transnational cooperation programmes, Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, focused on the Slovak presidency of the Danube Region Strategy 2021 and the Danube Region Strategy itself. 

On the Hungarian side, György Viktor Oroszi from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, national coordinator of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region, presented the Danube Region Strategy and the Interreg 2021-2027 Central European cooperation programme. 

Csilla Veres, representative of the Széchenyi Programme Office, highlighted in her presentation the Interreg Slovakia-Hungary cooperation programme for the period 2021-2027.

Anett Nagy, representing the Ministry for Innovation and Technology, outlined the governance model, structure, the directions of future development and plans of the Hungarian innovation ecosystem. 

Balázs Horváth, project manager, talked about the objectives, activities and flagship projects of the Danube Region Strategy’s Water Quality Priority Area Working Group. 

Zsuzsanna Kravalik, strategic and development expert at HBH, gave an insight into the key criteria for EU tenders. 

András Nyikos, project manager, representative of the Hungarian Canoe Federation, talked about the potentials of water tourism, the development of infrastructure and equipment, as well as the activities and projects of the Federation.

The event provided professional guidance and insight into successful joint projects.
