Another success for Arrabona EGTC: #waves project

Arrabona EGTC has reached one of the most significant milestones in its history:

Led by a 13-member consortium, it has won significant funding for the Szigetköz-Csallóköz-Pannonhalma tourist region.

The project will be implemented with the support of the Interreg Hungary-Slovakia Program’s Complex Development of Tourist Destinations measure under the HUSK-2401 call for proposals. The development project proposal, with a total value of approximately €8.5 million (HUF 3.4 billion), has been awarded €5.02 million (HUF 2.008 billion) in funding.

The project, called #waves, will implement elements of cycling and water tourism development in the region, expand accommodation and gastronomic services, and develop visitor management. Arrabona EGTC will perform the coordination and communication tasks of the project package as the lead partner of the consortium.

The aim of the #waves project is to encourage visitors to spend more quality time in the region, enjoying the experiences offered by active, cultural and gastronomic tourism.

The application was based on years of cooperation, workshops, forums, study trips, workshops, and consultations. The establishment of the Cross-Border Tourism Professional Committee by Arrabona EGTC in 2023 was a significant step in thinking about the future of tourism in the region. The committee’s professional objective is to focus on the development of the service provider partner network, knowledge sharing, and regional communication in the tourism development work of the Szigetköz-Pannonhalma and Csallóköz areas.
