Cross-border development of bathing tourism

A workshop specialised for institutions having an interest in bathing tourism in Hungary and Slovakia was held in Piešťany on 28 September 2022, organised by the SIK civil association of Šaľa and its project partner, Arrabona EGTC, based in Győr.

Project manager Judit Csókás announced the proposal at a press conference, with a total budget of EUR 52,843, of which the European Regional Development Fund will be granted EUR 45,000, which will be split between the two project partners. Gábor Alexovič, president of the SIK civil association, said that within the framework of the competition, a cultural contest was organised for primary school students of Nové Zámky and Győr.

The project includes the Slovak edition of the Winter vacation book, which will be distributed to Slovak native speakers, mainly in Piešťany and Ipolyság, for the purpose of organising further quizzes.

The activities and project results of Arrabona EGTC were presented by Tamás Zoltán Németh, the director of the groupings. They organised environmental and nature conservation study tours and awareness-raising programs for settlement leaders, specialists and primary school children in the border region. The destination of the study tour was the village of Nagypáli, the students were involved within the framework of the 2nd Climate EXPO in Győr.

At the workshop, Vladimír Krupa, director of the Imre Winter Balneological Museum and Pavel Makovník internist gave interesting lectures. Erzsébet Printz-Markó, senior lecturer of the Széchenyi University, discussed regional and international cooperation in the field of bath tourism.
