An Important Milestone in Building the Network of Local Products in Baranya – The Launch of baranyakosara.hu

Building on the professional work of Pannon EGTC, the newly created online platform not only showcases local products but may also lay the foundations for a long-term, county-level basket community system.

The development of local products in Baranya has reached a new milestone: the online platform baranyakosara.hu has been completed as a result of the exploratory and system-building work carried out by the Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Pannon EGTC). The creation of the website is not a one-time communication step, but rather the next stage in a longer process aimed at strengthening the county’s local product ecosystem and establishing the digital foundations of a future Baranya basket community.

The development was preceded by professional work carried out within the framework of the project “Baranya Helps – Cooperation for Employment Development.” During this initiative, Pannon EGTC comprehensively mapped producer markets, basket communities, and local product shops operating throughout the county. As a result of site visits, interviews, and data collection, a comprehensive registry was created that systematically identifies the sales hubs where local products actually reach consumers. The study revealed that although these initiatives operate on strong community foundations, their digital visibility and cooperation require further development.

In response to this realization, baranyakosara.hu was created. The platform aims to present local product stakeholders in a single, easily accessible online space, thereby laying the groundwork for a future county-level basket community. At present, the website functions as an informational and networking platform; however, in the longer term, it may provide an opportunity for producers and consumers in Baranya to connect within a shared system, potentially leading to more organized forms of community-based ordering.

The development is expected to enhance the visibility of the local economy, promote conscious consumer choices, and foster new forms of cooperation among producers, hospitality providers, and tourism stakeholders. The digital map and searchable database can help ensure that local products do not remain isolated initiatives, but instead become part of a mutually reinforcing, county-level network.

In the long term, baranyakosara.hu may evolve into a dynamic platform that not only showcases stakeholders but also builds community. The goal is to establish a digital infrastructure upon which a genuine Baranya basket community can be built — featuring shared communication, knowledge exchange, events, and potentially coordinated ordering opportunities. The newly launched website therefore marks not the end of a process, but the beginning of a new cooperation model in the world of local products in Baranya.
