Workshop in Košice focuses on employment and social inclusion
Information
On 21–22 April 2026, the workshop “Employment & Inclusion Across Borders – From Border to Belonging” took place in Košice, bringing together stakeholders to discuss employment and social inclusion in border regions. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, present practical solutions, and explore how cross-border projects can contribute to improving the quality of life of people living in border areas.
During the workshop, Via Carpatia EGTC presented the Beautiful Cserehát project as a best practice example. As part of the programme, the organisation hosted representatives of the Interreg Programme from eight European countries, delegates from European Union institutions, national and regional authorities, project partners, local stakeholders, and members of the media. The visit aimed to showcase the project’s main activities and demonstrate its tangible impact on the region. The workshop also highlighted the importance of bilateral partnerships in addressing shared social and regional development challenges.
The programme included study visits to Gagyvendégi, Hercegkút, and Hidasnémeti, where participants had the opportunity to see the project’s results firsthand. The examples presented demonstrated that even small-scale local initiatives can have a tangible positive impact on life in border regions, particularly when they combine social services, community development, and employment support.
