The region of three rivers

Our region has been offering itself as a single integrated unit to the visitors since the reconstruction of the Mária Valéria Bridge on 11 October 2001. The nature and the history have created a terribly exciting cultural landscape across these rivers. This picturesque landscape, where the three rivers meet, is the land of kings, scholars and artists. In our publication, we would like to showcase the cross-border region centered in Esztergom and Štúrovo. Showcasing the smaller landscapes encourages people to visit by car, by bicycle, on foot, on the water or by the little train, and discover our municipalities full of natural and cultural resources.

A legal guide of local products on the Hungarian-Slovak border

Our organisation – the Ister-Granum EGTC – has been working on mapping the local farmers’ needs, creating the terms of sale for local products and marketing them for several years along the Slovak-Hungarian border. This publication contains the regulations, laws and legislations concerning the topic of local products in both countries. The term ‘local product’ is not enshrined in a legislation, it is only present in the common language, therefore we use the term enshrined in a legislation in the publication. We hope this legal regulatory guide will help all producers and customers across the border.

Wave (Water-linked heritage) situational anaysis

The WaVE is a project aiming to utilize and reassess water heritage, and, besides the preservation and development of nature and heritage, the project promotes social-economic growth and adaptation to climate change as a positive side effect in the participating sites, as a result of its ecosystem-based approach. Meeting the specific requirements of the Interreg Europe programme, the project aims to promote beneficial changes focusing on the development of already existing policies. For this purpose, the partners taking part in WaVE prepare their action plans, which they will implement in the last year of the project. In order to create an action plan, they cooperate closely, they take part in knowledge transfer events, exchange good practices and actively involve local stakeholders in the development process. As a result of the project, the policies and programmes for the integrated validation and development of the water-related heritage could change in a positive direction, and new project ideas could take place.

Ister-Granum Regional Tourism Development Strategy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade set the goal of supporting the capacities of the beneficiaries in relation to the Strategy for the Danube Region and the EGTCs. In the framework of the project with the identification number of KÖFOP 3.3.3-15-2016-00002, the aim of this advisory task is to develop and support the capacities of the Ister-Granum EGTC tourism management. This study is the tourism development strategy covering the territory of the Ister-Granum EGTC. It assesses and demonstrates the tourism characteristics of the territory of the EGTC and determines the territorial development tasks and necessary interventions of the tourism destination. Further goals of the strategy: promoting the branding and the market entry of the diverse and exciting region and exploring future cooperative tender and project opportunities. The strategy relies heavily on the existing development concepts, the studies previously conducted by the EGTC, the development documents and the attraction inventory. The study was conducted with the involvement of the relevant actors in the region.
