In the joint organisation of the municipalities of Ipolydamásd and Štúrovo and the Ister-Granum EGTC, the bicycle path development connecting Štúrovo – Chľaba and Ipolydamásd – Letkés was handed over on November 15, 2023.

At the handover ceremony, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Bence Rétvári, Michal Kaliňák, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization, Tibor Csenger, Vice-President of Nitra Region, and Máriusz Révész, State Secretary responsible for active Hungary, greeted those present. They all emphasized that the project is very useful for the tourism development of the region. It is a long-term goal to create an easily accessible cycling circuit along the Ipoly.

After the greetings, a ceremonial ribbon cutting took place at the starting point of the two bicycle paths on the Chľaba side and the Ipolydamásd side of the rebuilt Károly Róbert bridge.

The Ister-Granum EGTC has set up seven bicycle rest areas in the region (Obid, Gbelce, Kamenín, Želiezovce, Letkés, Ipolydamásd, Esztergom). 80 map boards have been produced, which will be displayed in the settlements. The map shows the bicycle transport routes, as well as some of the landmarks of the given settlement and the smaller region. In addition, a four-month marketing campaign took place, which promoted cycling in the region and the region itself. A short film has been produced, and an online publication including fourteen cycling routes will be made available on the istergranum.eu site.
