On 18 June 2025, the next professional workshop of the Resilient Borders – Enhancing flood and drought resilience along the river Drava project took place in Virovitica, Croatia.

The aim of the project is to promote cross-border cooperation in the long-term planning of flood and drought management, water retention, and sustainable land use.

The workshop brought together Croatian and Hungarian experts in water management and disaster response, who worked jointly to identify and finalize key thematic areas and common points of interest. Participants reviewed the results achieved so far and collaboratively developed the structure of the joint action plan, as well as supporting materials for data collection and analysis.

Long-term cooperation goals were also identified during the event, laying the foundation for future joint projects and initiatives. The workshop concluded with the definition of the next steps necessary for practical implementation.

The professional background of the Resilient Borders project is provided by the Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Pannon EGTC) and the Central European Service for Cross-border Initiatives (CESCI). The project aims to improve the resilience of the Drava River region to extreme water-related events caused by climate change. This workshop marks another important step towards achieving these goals.
