Within the framework of the IpOLD project implemented by the Ipoly Valley European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation, seven cars were delivered in July with the support of the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme, which will be used to transport elderly and needy people in the Slovakian villages of Bušince and Kalonda, in order to facilitate the elderly population’s access to the district headquarters, hospitals and clinics, as there is no regular home medical service in the villages concerned.

Within the project, the EGTC carried out the renovation and modernisation of 15 public kitchens and purchased equipment for the provision of elderly care in 5 municipalities in the Slovak region (Bušince, Panické Dravce, Olováry, Trenč, Kalonda) and 10 municipalities in the Hungarian region (Endrefalva, Nógrádszakál, Ludányhalászi, Nagylóc, Nógrádmegyer, Nógrádsipek, Piliny, Rimóc, Szalmatercs, Szécsényfelfalu).

In addition to the purchase of equipment, leaflets summarising the results of the workshops and study visits organised under the project have been produced, presenting the challenges and opportunities of an ageing rural society in an innovative way, thus facilitating a common reflection on the issue.

The project has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund with the support of the European Union, with a total budget of € 345,796.05 for the 15 municipalities, of which € 293,926.64 from the ERDF.
