The Ipoly-völgye (Ipoly-valley) European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability was registered on 24.01.2017 and brings together 28 settlements on the Hungarian-Slovak border. The area of operation of the grouping covers a total of 394,3 km2 in the subregions of Ipoly/Ipeľ Valley, Szécsényi hills and Cserhátvidék/Cerová vrchovina. The registered office of the EGTC is located in the Hungarian municipality of Ludányhalászi, while the total population of the Grouping is 22 284.
The general and specific objectives of the Ipoly-völgye EGTC are:
- the establishment and maintenance of cooperation between its members in the scope of cross-border regional development activities;
- strengthening and promoting social and economic cohesion through the implementation of territorial programmes co-financed by the European Union, exploiting the advantages of the Grouping’s status as a legal entity.
