The goal of the project is to extend the crossings between Hungary and Slovakia by building a ferry between Neszmély and Radvan nad Dunajom. The project includes the construction of road connections to the ferry port on both the Hungarian and the Slovak sides, building 28 parking spots on the Hungarian side, 1 ferry port building and 1 ferry ramp on each side, as well as purchasing and operating the ferry.

3 project partners participated in the project:

– LB – NIF Zrt.,
– B2 – Magyar Közút NZrt.,
– B3 – Ister-Granum EGTC.

The implementation is carried out by LB on the Hungarian side. The B2 partner is responsible for the acquisition and operation of the ferry. The investment on the Slovak side is carried out by the B3 partner, the EGTC. Among the strategic goals are encouraging the economic and social integration of the currently separated municipalities and border regions across the Slovak-Hungarian border, utilizing the cooperation potential and helping border regions lagging behind to catch up. The implementation of the projects generates the following result indicators:

– improving accessibility,
– increasing the number of border crossing points along the Hungarian-Slovakian border,
– reducing the vehicle utilization costs of road users.

The development of the border crossing could mainly help fostering family and friendly relationships as well as cultural connections. At the same time, more frequent border crossings along the Danube can also lead to an increase in the number of Slovak Hungarians working in Hungary, through labour market integration and improved labour mobility.
