Pannon EGTC’s application under the Seed Money Facility of the Danube Region Programme has won

Our application “Resilience driven enhancement of the social-economic upscaling of the Danube-Drava-Sava macro region” (UPSCALE-DDS) has been awarded under the Danube Region Programme Seed Money Facility!

The Pannon EGTC submitted a proposal under the Danube Region Programme Seed Money Facility call, which provides a tool for the launch of strategic projects and the preparation of large-scale initiatives. The aim of the preparatory project is to develop a core project (to be submitted next year for the DRP call) aimed at improving the competitiveness of the Danube-Drava-Sava border regions from Slovenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, contributing to their economic development and promoting sustainable development in the border areas. The project partners will examine and assess the situation and potential of the respective border areas, share their experiences and jointly develop solutions that can increase the resource mobilisation capacity of the border areas.

The Danube macro-region covers 11 countries, which border each other at several points. Many of these border regions are marginalised. These peripheral areas generally have low participation rates and limited absorption capacity. Border areas have their own cross-border cooperation programmes aimed at developing the area, but these are not linked, so good experiences and best practices are not transferred from one border area to another.

The aim of the preparatory project is to develop a flagship project that will contribute to the development of the peripheral areas of the Danube macro-region by increasing participation in EU funding schemes and enhancing resource mobilisation, competence development and capacity building for target groups in lagging areas. Through comprehensive assessment, targeted capacity building and strategic planning, partners will improve the absorption capacity of the region, thereby contributing to its development. The aim is to promote sustainable development in border regions by involving stakeholders, providing accessible resources and identifying sources of funding. The cross-border approach will ensure cross-border cooperation, maximising the impact of the project in the Danube macro-region.

The overall objective of the main project is to improve the competitiveness of border areas, contribute to their economic development and promote sustainable development in border areas. It will do so by involving organisations from all the countries of the Danube Region impacted in the development of border areas, with whom it will examine and assess the situation and potential of the border area concerned, and then the partners will share their experiences and jointly develop solutions that can increase the resource mobilisation capacity of the border areas. The expected result is an increase of successful participation and use of available funding in the peripheral areas of the Danube region.
