The PONTIBUS European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability was established by Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia and Pest megye in Hungary on 08.11.2015. The EGTC was registered on 8 January, 2016. The area of ​​the EGTC covers 12 733,2 km2, including the total surface of the two founders. The total population of the EGTC is 1 936 170 people and it is based in Budapest.

The aim of the Grouping is to develop closer economic and social relations between the people living on both sides of the border. The general objectives of the EGTC are to develop and support cross-border and interregional cooperation between its members with a view to strengthening economic and social cohesion and through the implementation of joint activities, projects and programs for cross-border cooperation.

The EGTC shall act in order to facilitate and support territorial cooperation, to strengthen the economic, social and territorial cohesion of the Union and to remove obstacles to the internal market.
