The Gate to Europe EGTC submitted a proposal in January 2024 to the call of the INTERREG VI-A Romania-Hungary Program. The title of the submitted proposal is “Increasing the tourism potential of Gate to Europe EGTC localities through supporting community events, constructing a gastronomic village, and developing cross-border hiking conditions”.

The total budget of the proposal is 1,999,456 euros. The proposal was submitted by the Gate to Europe EGTC in partnership with the Gúth-Keled Tourism and Nature Conservation Association. If the proposal is approved, the following main activities will be implemented: establishment of a gastronomic village in Nyíradony, the organisation of eight cross-border traditional events showcasing regional foods and traditions, three workshops for regional farmers and local producers with the aim to support mutual development, production of promotional materials, development of a cross-border tourism and cultural strategy, and procurement of equipment.

The central building in the gastronomic village will be the gastronomic house with an extension of 576.90 m2 , including a community space and a terrace area where traditional dishes made from ingredients from the Gate to Europe EGTC localities can be tasted. The gastronomic village will also offer fruit drinks, jams, preserves etc. from the member municipalities. Additionally, two showcase houses will be built in the gastronomic village, each will be 144.83 m2 in size. The decorations and furniture of these showcase houses will represent the history and traditions of the 35 member localities of the Gate to Europe EGTC.
