First live firefighting operation of the fire truck purchased with the support of the ROHU72 project

The ROHU72 project of the Volunteer Firefighters Association of the city of Mórahalom was closed on 30 November 2023, which was managed by the BTC EGTC. The Volunteer Firefighters Association of Mórahalom purchased a special vehicle for snow clearing and for water transport in the case of fire-fighting tasks to be used in the extensive farmland area alongside the border. The overall objective of the project was to improve the emergency preparedness and disaster resilience of the Romanian-Hungarian border region.

On 26 March 2024, at 10:58 a.m. the alert was received that the ground vegetation of a pine forest was burning on the outskirts of Ásotthalom. The units of Ásotthalom Volunteer Firefighters Association, Mórahalom Volunteer Firefighters Association with three vehicles and the units of Ruzsa/1 arrived at the scene of the incident. This was the first time that the ROHU72 project vehicle was used. In the case of fires in the countryside, it is essential to have the necessary amount of water on the spot, which is why the fire truck was purchased and was used for the first time in a live fire fulfilling its job  perfectly.
