At the ‘Active Hungary – The Beginning of an Era Conference 2021’, held on 25-26 November 2021 in Siófok, Hungary, a special session was dedicated to tourism networks. During the conference, almost all the speakers spoke about the importance of tourism infrastructural networks, such as cycling, walking, rowing and horse riding routes. However, building and maintaining tourism networks is very challenging, which is why a separate session was organised on the subject.

In his presentation, Tamás Zoltán Németh, Director of Arrabona EGTC, drew attention to the common interest of local communities and shared his experiences with the audience specifically focusing on the Szigetköz-Žitný ostrov region. According to him, networks are bound together by three things: the “person” (customer, service provider, community) found in the design and development process, a common set of values and interests, and the continuous building of connections, combined with the sharing of common knowledge.
