The enlargement of the EGTC association with new members from Szigetköz and Žitný ostrov

The Arrabona EGTC held its annual General Assembly on 20 May 2022, where the members of the Association made decision on eight proposals. Most decisions had to be taken regarding the operation of the Association,such as the approval of the implementation of the 2021 budget of the Association and the amendment of its official documents. The EGTC also welcomed the new members from Szigetköz and Žitný ostrov.

In his speech, the Director Tamás Zoltán Németh summarised the achievements of the period since the last General Assembly. The Association prepared more than 40 tenders with a total value of  2.77 billion HUF. Furthermore, with project management activities, it helped  to implement a total of 38 tenders at the Hungarian-Slovakian border, with a total cost of 3.13 billion HUF and grants in value of 2.67 billion HUF.

The Director underlined that outside the usual tender and project management activities, the Association has fulfilled  numerous consultancy service activities regarding municipality and regional development. These include the organization of cross-border events, the preparation and review of strategic documents and publications.

An important item of the General Assembly was the decision, taken by the Association, regarding the settlements who wish to join. Seven municipalities indicated that they want to join the Association. The municipalities who requested to join accede and were accepted are the following ones: Máriakálnok, Győrladamér, and Győrzámoly from the Hungarian side; Baka, Dobrohošť, Bodíky, and Vojka nad Dunajom from the Slovakian side.

With the newly joined municipalities, the number of the members of the Association increased to 43.
