Ister-Granum EGTC

After decades of preparation, a bridge will again link Ipolydamásd in Hungary and Chľaba in Slovakia. Construction of the new bridge started in April 2021 and the missing link on the lower part of the Ipoly/Ipeľ river was inaugurated on 28 July 2023. The road border crossing bridge between Ipolydamásd and Chľaba was built with the support of the European Union under the cross-border cooperation programme. The road bridge, which also serves as a border crossing, has two lanes and a cycle lane. The existence of a cycle lane is also important because, in parallel with the construction of the bridge, a cycle path network development project is also being implemented in the area with the support of the cross-border programme, connecting the Hungarian and Slovakian sides of the river.
