The construction works of the waste processing and sorting plant under construction in Yanoshi are progressing well, almost half of it have already been completed. The project is supported by the European Union and the Hungarian Government, and according to the plans, it will be able to process more than 30,000 tons of solid waste annually from the 10 micro-regions of the Berehove district. The event presenting the results of the project took place on December 18, 2023 in Berehove.

An efficient waste management association is necessary for the future operation of the Yanoshi landfill, and the local leaders discussed the progress of the project as well as the legal and organisational issues of establishing the association. Therefore, on September 20, 2023, a professional consultation took place in Berehove, where the leaders of the 10 sub-regions, the Berehove District Council and the Berehove District Military Administration discussed with the leaders of the main partner Tisza EGTC. Specific questions and answers will be developed at future meetings.

Furthermore, as part of professional studies and visits on the developments in the field of waste management, the leaders of the Berehove district visited Nyíregyháza between November 7-8, 2023, organised by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Development and Environmental Management Agency Nonprofit Ltd., where they studied the waste management system in Hungary and gave professional presentations.
