International conference to discuss the challenges of Euroscepticism

With the support of the CERV Programme, an international conference was held at Mórahalom on 1st July 2022 within the framework of the project ‘Platform for challenging Euroscepticism.’

The conference kick-started the 3-day series of events which enumerated the accomplishments and advantages of the EU, also creating an international platform for young people from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Serbia to participate in the discussion on how to tackle Euroscepticism. Those present also had the chance to participate in the workshops and recreational programmes.

The event was opened by the chief director of the Banat-Triplex Confinium EGTC. Among the invited presenters was Melinda Benczi, international relations coordinator of CESCI and Océane Menu, and Péter Nagy, director of the Ister Granum EGTC, who presented useful information to the youth of the sister cities of Mórahalom, focusing on the characteristics of the EU and the commitments of the EGTCs.

Throughout the rest of the weekend, gastronomic and cultural events were held and within an EU quiz game, young people were asked, “What is your opinion regarding the future of the EU and Euroscepticism?”

Beside the handmade and local products, handicraft and dexterity games for children, gastro adventures, folklore demos, Central European light music concerts, a barn dance, and flash mobs were organised to ensure the recreation of the participants.
