SCHOLAR SME Scholarship and Mentoring Programme – professional coordination by the BTC EGTC

The Banat-Triplex Confinium EGTC (BTC EGTC) is geographically specific as it develops its activities to promote the effectiveness of cooperation in the border areas between Romania, Hungary and Serbia. Currently, it’s playing a key role in the technical coordination and the implementation of the Scholarship and Mentoring Programme of the Interreg-IPA Hungary-Serbia Cross-border Cooperation Programme under the title SCHOLAR SME.

The SCHOLAR SME programme will be put into effect between the Municipality of Zrenjanin and the Municipality of Mórahalom as applicant partners between 1 November 2020 and 30 April 2022. The project will include the construction of a fully equipped student hostel in each of the two municipalities, with a capacity of 17-20 persons, which will provide accommodation for the scholarship holders throughout the course of the six-month Scholarship and Mentoring Programme. In each city, 17-17 students or young people at the beginning of their career will participate in the programme.

Between 1 November 2021 and 30 April 2022, their task will be to study and gain experience of the functioning of SMEs on both sides of the border, so that, at the end of the programme, they can contribute to the economic recovery of their home town and the border region by staying in their home country, having acquired new knowledge and skills, and to strengthen territorial and economic cohesion by building a well-functioning network of contacts.

The BTC EGTC has played a significant role in achieving this objective by building on its previous experience and providing the participants of the programme with the specific knowledge that is essential to maintain and further deepen the good neighbourly relations between Romania, Hungary and Serbia.
